Role of a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

Why you need a Class 3 DSC for e-bidding.

A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is the electronic equivalent of a physical signature. In the context of e-auctions, it ensures the integrity and non-repudiation of your bid.

Why Class III?

Auctions use the highest level of security, Class III, which acts as a 'High Assurance' certificate. It proves your identity to the auction portal server.

How to Use It

It comes as a USB crypto-token (like a pen drive). You must plug it into your computer during the login and bidding process. The portal reads the certificate for authentication. Without this specific USB token, even if you know your username and password, you cannot bid.

Expiry

DSCs have a validity of 1-2 years. Ensure yours hasn't expired before the auction day.
